Google v. Baidu: It’s Not Just about China
I would still call something like this a longshot. The post seems to suggest that Google's China pullout may force the US to have a rethink on whether to allow Chinese cash rich firms to acquire US based firms or not - which in turn would make them easier acquisition targets for US firms.
But a possibility cannot be ruled out . Also Baidu is truly walloping Google in China.

So, I am in Pune for the break. Basically chilling out, and met a TFI fellow today evening - would write about it during the week. Right now, I am in this cyber cafe, sitting in front of a nice widescreen monitor and voila! I see www.rediff.com as a browser homepage! Pretty neat eh!! Anyways, so whats new on the web?
Firstly I am sure you guys must have read 3-Idiots review by the number 1 movie critic of the online world- Raja Sen on rediff . In case you haven't, do read it and the comments below the same too!
Three Idiots, Two Stars, One Missed Opportunity
The film really tries too hard. A wonderfully endearing character named Millimeter shows off a group of pups, calling the little one Kilobyte and the bigger one Megabyte, and there is a pause before he calls the mother Gigabyte. Sigh. The principal is called Virus. It's an engineering college, get it? And so the jokes groan on, far more obvious than any of us Hiraniphiles would have liked -- even as the dramatic twists and reveals emerge inadvertently funnier than the gags.
When I left Joka, I was damm excited to start work at my first job! The last 2 terms at a B-school are decently chill - and so one definitely keeps looking for interesting work after a management school. Weeks, months passed by in a jiffy and here I am, having taken only 1 day of leave after 8 months of joining my first job! :) Every day, my day starts and soon its 9 am when I start preparing to rush off to Mahim. Life's become kinda monotonous. So I decided, chak de - i am taking a vacation for a week!
What do I intend to do in the vacation? I intend to do non-work! Let me define non-work for you - Probably non-work is about doing something creative, interesting, exciting which is outside work. It may still be in the sphere of the work you do, but for a different cause. For example, I intend to setup a few websites for my friends working in the social sector in this week. The social sector in India is promising - and I think social sector is the one which is going to make technology and its benefits accessible to the whole of India. In this context, one venture I must mention - and I shall do so on strat.in as well is Youth Venture. They invest in social startups started by people under 25 - ( when I heard this I realised for the first time that I d be 25 soon- sigh! ) I met one of their evangelists - Vipin last weekend and I must say - it was great to see his understanding of the social sector.
Another thing I intend to do is to read a book I have been wanting to read since ages probably. Let me write about the book when I finish reading. And yes, I intend to post regularly on magnifrisco and strat for the next 10 days!! 2009 has been superb all through and I thank all enablers (including Him) for that. May 2010 be as exciting too!
Last year I wrote this article sitting in my room @iimc. A year has passed and what has happened? Kasab's trial shows no sign of ending. The masterminds of this attack are still free in Pakistan. The PM is making calls to the world to proactively pressurize Pakistan. I can't understand how asking the world to pressurize Pakistan would help. Even the US can't sweep terrorists off that territory!
Anyways, this post is to commemorate the victims of 26/11. The civilians, the police who lost their lives. The family members who lost their bread earners. May the victims' soul rest in peace...
Ai mere watan ke logo,
Jara aankh mein bhar lo paani,
Jo shahid hue hai unki,
Jara yaad karo kurbaani!
